Hey there, hi there! (One of these days we have to work on this whole salutation thing.) It’s only Tuesday but we’re having such an exciting week already, aren’t we? As you may know, Today is day three of our DRESS THEME WEEK SPECTACULAR! All this week I am styling up just a few of my favorite dresses. You don’t really want to know how many I have in total. Trust me. You don’t. But I’m choosing a handful in honor of my introduction to my new adventure/project/blog. ALLTHEPRETTYDRESSES.COM. If you go check it out today, you’ll find that I’ve made a new page public and it’s only the beginning of a more pages which I’ll reveal throughout the week.
As the introductory bits suggest, I’ve kind of become enthralled with the idea of lists and crossing things off of them. Particularly before my 30th birthday. I’m also kind of obsessed with the increment of 100. I even toyed briefly with the idea of paring my wardrobe down to 100 items and living with only so many clothes for a year. I nixed that idea after hitting a roadblock at 150 items I just couldn’t part with. But my fascination with 100 lists, continues on. One hundred items is a very attainable goal over a 2+ year span, which is how long I have until I turn 30. Unfortunately, I tend to be a bit of an overachiever, or at the very least overly ambitious. So I have several 100 lists to complete in the interim. Today, new on alltheprettydresses.com is my reading list. Between now and March 31st, 2013, my mission is to complete the “All Time 100 Greatest Novels List.” It’s a rather lofty list, but I’m excited about it and in full-on reading mode already. As I read the books on the list, I will then post a review of sorts and let you know my thoughts. I even joined GoodReads to help me track some of my literary pursuits. In addition to my list, I also belong to a book club so I’ll frequently be juggling several reads at a time. (What was I saying about being overly ambitious?) Feel free to go check out my book list and join me the rest of this week as I unveil more of the lists!
So here, for today, is one of my most favoritest dresses ever. To think when I bought this thing, I was almost dissuaded by someone telling me it wasn’t very versatile. I have worn this thing at least four or five different ways in the course of a year and I haven’t stopped running out of ideas. Which just goes to show. You say “challenge”, I say “bring it.” Challenge. Bring it. Challenge! Bring it! See how that works.
Anyway. I kind of stole this version from Jentine at My Edit. Her version was my original inspiration and I tried an almost identical styling but had better luck with this belt and leaving the cardigan loose. There were a lot of options to be had here. I just went with my favorite.
Lastly, I think I chose this dress today because it only now occurred to me how much it resembles the Cortez dress that I’m giving away for Shabby Apple. I can no longer be sad that I can’t win my own giveaway, because it turns out I have a fairly decent approximation hanging in my very own closet. Huh. Guess that means I’ll have to find something else to whine about. Speaking of which! Have you entered the giveaway yet?! If you haven’t, go and enter already! You have until Monday the 31st. Do it!
