Hello my loves! I’ve come around to tell you that I love you. Yes you! All the readers. I try to fight it, but the truth is, I miss you so much when I don’t post. I miss you when you don’t read/comment/lurk. Of course, I realize that the best way to remedy a lag in readership would be to, I dunno…ACTUALLY POST. But what can I say. Things have been crazy.
I can’t believe it’s already February. February tends to be my least favorite month, so I’ll be the first to express delight that it’s halfway over. Not for nothing though. I’m going to try and squeeze in some more posts in the next week or so. And then I’m excited to say that I do have designs on a theme week coming up! Yes, really! Just because I love you! Almost as much as I love the giant boxes of chocolate that some dicourteous folks…er… loved ones gave me. Seriously, if I ingest any more sugar this month, I am in big trouble. I think I am going to have to give up sweets for Lent just to break the cycle.
Oh. Did you want the good news?
I AM FINALLY WEARING SOME COLOR! I know. It’s not much to write home about. But given my colorless kick of late, I thought it pretty monumental. In an attempt to break out of my ruts, I went on a small shopping excursion yesterday and treated myself to some new wardrobe pieces. I may also need to kick shopping this Lenten season, but my mission was to inject some color into my repertoire in the form of new clothes. My logic was that if I spend money on a new item, I’ll be more inclined to wear it out of guilt, thus colorizing my look anew. My intentions were pretty earnest. (However, feel free to use this also, if you’re just looking for an excuse to buy cute new things.)
In any event, I picked up this red skirt. I felt like I was somehow remiss that I don’t already own a red mini skirt. Seems like a must-have to me. Especially on a day like today. To be honest, I wasn’t much up for getting bedecked. I was scheduled to work all day and in no more position to celebrate V-Day than I am to experience full-mobility in this skirt. Seriously. Whomever thought it was a good idea to taper a mini-skirt was very very wrong. But it’s still cute right? Cuteness before practicality: unofficial motto of yours truly.
I’ve also been DYING to wear this bird cardigan. I picked up on my maiden pilgrimage to H&M and I’ve been eyeing it longingly in my closet ever since. Alas, the timing just hasn’t felt right. Until today of course. Imagine my further glee when I noted that the birds on this thing actually come in couple and appear to be love birds. Okay, that’s a little cutesy even for me. But I justified the wearing of the sweater at last. The result, I think, is a pretty fun Valentine’s day outfit. I got the requisite five compliments on my floral patterened tights and the whole thing cheered me up on an otherwise crappy holiday. I was feeling the love after all.
Baby steps, friends. I’m referring of course, to how I walk in this skirt.

I think the sweater and skirt make a great pair! What a great outfit for Valentine’s Day.
Jenny, my dear you look adorable, I love the whole outfit, you can eat all the chocolates, as you are so trim and fit.
This is both sweet and sexy! I love a red skirt and those tights are incredible. The cardigan is tops too!
Oh my do I love this sweater – love it! The sweater also pairs so great with the red skirt.
I really think Valentine’s day is somewhat overrated. Don’t know about you all, but I would be lucky to say that I have had maybe 2 boyfriends in my 42 years of life that were truly romantics and yes, I loved it, but most men just emotionally aren’t there. I’m lucky to get candy and a card, and yes I did get candy and a card AND lotion! My hubby racked up some bonus points for the lotion, yes he did!
I’m a day late, but I hope everyone had a great Valentine’s day, whatever that looked like for you.
LOVE.
