Hi there buddies! I have good news and bad news. The good news is that I drank a double shot latte at 4:30 this afternoon. The bad news is that I drank a double shot latte at 4:30. It was not my most ibrilliant move as of late. But in my defense, I haven’t had a latte in like a week and a half and I was craving it. And then the barista offered me an extra espresso shot for free. You can’t turn down free coffee. You just can’t. So I’m kinda still wired at this ridiculous hour, but also feeling punchy enough to post something.
In case you were wondering, I will not be giving up coffee for Lent this year. If you were reading this time last year, you’ll recall that although I am not even Catholic, I often use the Lenten season as an opportunity to give something up. Last year it was my beloved coffee and I lived to tell the tale. But having made that sacrifice once, I don’t think a round two will be necessary. This year I am still weighing my options. Suggestions welcome. How about you guys? Have you ever given anything up for a period of time? What was it and how did it go?
I’ll let you think about it during the outfit intermission.
Confession: I wore this outfit last week and I’m just now getting around to posting it. These days I still dress up quite frequently. It’s just that since the project ended, I haven’t yet been in the mood to snap a bunch of self-portraits and write posts. That’s always been the time consuming part.
There’s also this little issue called the weather. I am at my burnout point for winter clothes. Although I love getting my layer on, I have been really missing skirts and dresses. Which is why I broke down and threw on this skirt the other day. A good skirt will always cheer me up. When trying to roust yourself from a skirtless funk, I say it’s best to go Super Skirt! And as skirts go, I’m pretty keen on this one. It’s extra flared-out and bouncy. In fact, it’s bounciness doesn’t capture well in photos. You’ll just have to take my word for it.
Still struggling to break out of my colorless rut. I can’t wait for spring colors, and I’ve got a lot of fun ideas floating around for the coming season. Now just cross your fingers that I’ll remember to post them!

I love this outfit and how the colorful skirt says spring while the rest of the outfit says winter. I personally try to give up something for lent myself, even though I’m not religious. Last year it was red meat. This year I think it will be sweets- a serious hardship for me.
I love your skirt! Feminine and fun indeed.
I, too, participate in Lent even though I’m not at all Catholic. But, rather than give something up, I use the time to better myself. This year, my Lent “resolution” is to learn how to use my SLR camera. Thus, I will spend 40 days taking pictures and reading about SLR cameras!
Oh I love that skirt. Love it SO much! And the necklace too!
I used to give things up for Lent when I was younger. One year I gave up candy. That wasn’t easy. But the payoff came on Easter Day when my parents bought me all of my favorites…from COSTCO. You know, one of the warehouse stores? So much candy. SO MUCH CANDY…

Beautiful skirt. I can’t imagine giving up coffee for any reason, but I do pose month-long challenges to myself and find that my behavior is permanently changed afterward. It worked with beer. It worked with cookies.
I really like the ring. How did you get THAT picture? I am imagining some weird hand work with the camera.
I’ve never given up anything for that long. I don’t even know what I could give up. Coke? No. Twitter? No. I could probably do Facebook since I don’t get on there that much anymore, but that wouldn’t be very fair of me. Maybe I should try not yelling at my kids for 30 days? Nope, that won’t work either.
Cute outfit! I love how this skirt looks on you. The necklaces also add a very feminine touch, good job!

This year I am giving up shopping–yes shopping–that means no going into stores (except for grocery)–no reading the catalogs I get in the mail (sorry new J Crew!) and no shopping online–no ebay nothing! I can still read my blogs which are about fashion but can’t click on links to see how much they are or whatever–this will be hard…so much spare time!
love the skirt!!
I love that skirt!! I am with you on being so over winter clothes… I want warmer weather stat!
Cute skirt. I routinely give up bread and wheat products for 8 days once a year. It’s called Passover and I only participate for religious reasons. Bookended by pizza binges.
