Well hello my people! To be honest I was about to skip out on posting tonight. I had a very long day. Work was just awful, because of course we only made it 23 days into 2011 before experiencing our first computer meltdown of the year at work. Another one bites the dust. But then I had a really lovely evening eating good food with good friends and it vastly improved my outlook on today. PLUS. Guess what? Guess what?

THEME WEEK IS HERE. And not just any theme week. This is a very special theme week because it’s a weeklong celebration as well. Celebration of what? you may be asking. Well. It’s a celebration of the week I introduce you to my next blog and project of course! I’ve been waiting so long for this, and I know a few of you have been too. But then I thought to myself…how could I possibly drag the suspense out any longer? And then I came up with a solution: A WEEKLONG INTRODUCTORY REVEAL SPECTACULAR! Oh yeah.

So here’s how this is going to work. I’m going to give you the new URL today and then you can go check it out for yourself. BUT, I’ll tell you that as of this moment there isn’t much to see. Think of it as an Open House, and you’ve only just stepped into the foyer. As the week goes on, we’ll take a full tour. Each day I’ll introduce you to a new component of the project. And while we’re at it? Outfits!

Not just outfits, but more specifically DRESSES. All week I’m going to be rocking some of my very favorite dresses from the past year. New renditions whenever possible but when it comes to dresses, it’s more about the finer points of tweaking the outfit. Like today, for instance. I still love this little homemade darlin’ that I picked up at a thrift store. The fit on this thing is so precise that I don’t want to mess with it too much. I don’t love the neckline/sleeves of it, so I often find myself pairing it with a cardigan of sorts. Otherwise, I just adore the cute print and the fun lines.

So anyway. How much do I love dresses? Why, enough to incorporate them into the new URL! Internet, meet my new baby:

Somehow it Got Easy to Laugh Out Loud

So, here is a picture taken out of my office window this morning and here is one of it, early this evening. Just to give you a little perspective into my frustration with the weather. How does one dress exactly, when a matter of hours can change the weather completely?

I was still a little cranky this morning but it was nothing a little primal scream therapy in my car, and a long workout didn’t fix. Plus, there isn’t much complaining to do about two days off from work. I’ve been bad about scheduling my days off consecutively this year, because sometimes I like to break my week up. But a full two days in a row is probably better for my mental health. The husband is even off to join me. We made plans to go sledding and do a little shopping. But as it turned out, the snow was already sloshy by the time we really got around to it.

We hit a few thrift stores, but nothing too terribly exciting. Tonight we’re going to watch a movie and I am even going to cook something.  I can bake like a mofo, but my cooking is nothing to write home about. Dinner is typically the husband’s chore. He enjoys cooking and is good at it. Therefore, it’s an unspoken agreement that we’re both happier when he cooks, but occasionally I bust out. Cross your fingers for me.

I didn’t spend a terrible lot of time on today’s outfit. The weather has even me confounded as to what to wear. Earlier this month, I started keeping a running calendar with loosely based outfit plans. Nothing set in stone. Just a sort of a back up plan for days when I might be short on time or feeling uninspired. All that went out the window with the random blizzard action this past week. But I will be damned if the weather is going to screw with my upcoming theme week. No ma’am. Theme week is going down as planned, regardless of what the weather decides to do.

For today, I just decided to throw on my purple sweater cape, while I still can. The sweater cape is an odd thing to try and pull off. I wore it once before at the beginning of the project as part of an Old Lady Sunday but today I went for a more eccentric dalliance. I mean it’s a cape for cripes sake. A little eccentricity is a given. I felt like a badass in my boots, sunglasses and cape. And milkmaid braids? Well, that’s neither here nor there. CAPE!
