Well hello there. Look at me! All postin’ again! Crazyness.

Actually, the only real reason I’m sitting down at my computer is because that’s about all I’m capable of at the moment. I got stricken with a most nasty head cold early this week and it has only worsened. So I did something that I really really absolutely hate doing. Which is, I took the night to rest. I know. BLECH! I not only left work a smidgen early but I also skipped the gym and am now Taking It Easy. And do you know something? I HATE IT.

In any event. I thought I’d use this time to do a little work on the blogs and while editing photos, I discovered a cache of outfit photos I’d forgot I’d even taken. Nice! So here they are, from several days ago.

I have worn several variations of this outfit since the beginning of Pantsless Lent. Which is another reason why I haven’t been up to daily documentation. There have been a rather lot of repeats going on. But oh well. Wearing a different outfit every day is so 2010, don’t you think! Ha.

There has been some debate as to whether wearing leggings is technically cheating at Pantsless Lent. However, I vote no, on the grounds that leggings are not standing in, in the place of pants. But rather acting as leg covering beneath bottoms which are decidedly not pants. So there. And anyway. What else is a girl to do in the midst of schizoid spring weather around here? One day snowy. One day rainy. Another windy. And a few days which are all of the above. Layering is my friend!

So now there are just three more weeks of Lent to go. I’ll try to post some more in said three weeks, but as always, don’t hold your breath.

The Moon’s Awake Now, with Eyes Wide Open

Oh my gosh you guys. I have to tell you how surreal it is to be at the end! (Almost.)

I woke up around six a.m. this morning and could not get back to sleep without tossing and turning. I was having anxiety dreams. I do this every once in a blue moon when I’m particularly hyped up about something. Usually it’s work related, but in times of stress or excitement, I sometimes find myself just dreaming in a thought loop about the same things over and over. So this morning when this happened I was tossing and turning thinking about, of all things, what to wear today and tomorrow.

After all, outfit #365 is already determined and ready to go. Just waiting patiently for her big day. But these last two filler days, are just kind of there. Standing between me and my big finale. I’m like the kid in the Disneyland commercial. BUT I’M TOO EXCITED TO SLEEP. Whereas Christmas came and went, New Year’s Eve is my big holiday this year. Eeeeeeeee! I can scarcely bring myself to care about the interim. But I did do my best, okay?

The other day while pawning some unwanted duds off on Plato’s Closet, I was just wandering around the store aimlessly, when I spotted a mannequin display. This particular mannequin display was quite crazy. Among other things, it featured a striped cardigan, a big belt, a flowery skirt, a statement necklace and a scarf. And I was like OMG, that outfit is like every stereotypical fashion blogger cliché all rolled into one outfit! All that was missing was some crazy tights. And that’s probably only because the mannequin had no legs. I wish I had taken a picture. Hindsight, and all. But the whole thing was so spectacularly busy. I was impressed.

So then my second thought was OMG, I have to try that for myself. So today was my sort of half-hearted attempt at that. As you can see, I toned things down pretty significantly. I still feel like even this version is more colorful that I’d usually go for. But I figured, there aren’t many last hurrahs to be had at this point. So why the heck not? I give you my Ultimate Montage Homage du Cliché. See? Even the title is busy.

In days to come, I’ll admit, I’m looking forward to laying low and living a little less loud in my clothing choices. A nice little break. Although totally temporary, I assure you. This project has taught me the necessity of keeping things colorful. It’s been a beautiful year.

Stepping Over What Now Towers to the Sky

Nighty night! That’s all I’m writing I’m tired and I want to go to bed.

Okay, just a little kidding. But I am exquisitely tired right now. It’s been a busy week. The past couple of weeks have found be being a little more social than usual. I’ve been blessed to spend time with a number of my fabulous friends and it was some much needed company. It is so good to see everyone before the holidays descend and I am confined to my store for hours and hours every day. What I did not anticipate is just how much Going Out and Doing Things wears me out. I maybe need to work on my stamina for socializing. Because as it turns out, getting out of the house and seeing people you love is good for the soul. Just not always for my energy levels. I will work on this.

And besides. I plan to do as much getting out for the rest of this year. How else can I ensure that the last 49 outfits get seen by the general public. Today is number #316. But who’s counting?

 

We wouldn’t want me to go fading into the woodwork, now would we? Haha. Bad joke, I know.

Seriously though, I’m not sure how I feel about this all-brown look. It looked really good in my head. It has a lot of elements I like and incorporates a could of awesome pieces. But put together it’s a little…I dunno…costumey? Very Robin Hood/Peter Pan/Gaston from “Beauty and the Beast.” Didn’t I just swear off dressing like cartoonfolk? And here I am at it again.

That said, I did get some compliments on this one. And it was comfortable. So that’s about all I have to say for myself today. I’ll try to be a little more inspired tomorrow m’kay?

I’ve Got More Rhymes Than I’ve Got Grey Hairs

This’ll be quick. I had a good long day. I’m off work tomorrow and I have a lot I need to do. In particular, I need to do some blog-keeping things. I’ve been a bad visitor/commenter on other blogs. My thumbnails page is all jacked up and I don’t know how to fix it. I need to consolidate all my Twitter accounts into a more concise one-stop shop. Etc. Technology, man. I consider myself savvy enough to get by, but I can’t keep up!

We’ll see how much I actually get done tomorrow. I have a lot of other things on my agenda. Namely, sleeping in, making French toast and going roller skating. Priorities and such.

See how pleased I look with myself? It’s another outfit, I’m actually pretty happy with. And now hardly anyone is going to see it because it’s the weekend. Oh well. I’m okay with rewarding the dedicated. I love this skirt, but I have only ever worn it one way - with a brown long sleeve, a sweater vest, brown leggings and some gold flats. Obviously, that’s not what you’re seeing here because I actually made an effort to branch out and make it cuter. And it worked! Yay me!

Also! I got quite a few compliments on it! Compliments are a funny thing. Obviously, I enjoy them a lot. Who doesn’t? But what I’ve noticed is that when you dress up quite a bit, people quit commenting and/or complimenting. Or I get the occasional disdainful, “You look cute BUT you always look cute.” Like it’s a bad thing? Gee I’m sorry. Tomorrow, I’ll be sure to wear velour track pants and a turtleneck. Maybe let my bra straps hang out a little, to spare you Not that, it’s really possible to show your bra straps with a turtleneck. But whatever.

For the record, all compliments are nice. I for one, am never going to be like OMIGOD, STOP saying nice things about my clothes! In fact, I think I’m going to make an effort to be more complimentary in real life. You never know when you might make someone’s day.

Stuck on the Dime Piece

Back at it. I’m always pretty depressed after leaving the city but I feel okay this time. It was a nice, albeit brief, break. We did pretty much a whole lot of nothing, which is sometimes the best way to go about it. The husband and I get a kick out of test-driving Denver’s luxury downtown hotels. We call it a staycation. Actually, I call it a staycation. But only because the husband detests that term. Staycation. Staycation. Staycation. Okay, I kind of hate it too.

This time we stayed at the The Curtis, which is a pop-culture themed hotel. Total kitsch fun. You can rent board games. Order Rice Krispie Treats from room service. They have a One Hit Wonder floor. I love it. Shopping was kind of uneventful, aside from some awful customer service. But I’ll save that for a strongly-worded letter to the company in question.

I am spent for the month, but that was kind of the point. I may have gone a little over budget for January, between last week’s thrifting and an eBay purchase. But I have no other spending plans for the rest of this month or even the next few weeks, so I should be right on track.

You may recognize this flyaway cardigan from my very first outfit. I really love it, but it’s kind of distinctive. Otherwise I’d utilize more. Everything else is different, so at least it’s versatile. I love the color pink in theory, but I don’t wear a lot of it. The cream and silver have a nice way of toning it down. And sorry, this outfit is pretty work-centric. For those of you who just tuned in, items labeled “work” are from the store I manage but would prefer remain nameless, for obvious reasons. Dig?

No big plans from here on out. Neither of us has to be back at work until Saturday, so I think we’ll do dorky married people stuff around the house. We just got a bunch of “Lost” discs from Netflix, but first we have to finish up season two of “Brothers and Sisters.” Oh those Walkers. The only thing they are more than dramatic is predictable. But we can’t stop watching.

With a Dream and My Cardigan

Well hello! The blog sort of blew up yesteday stat-wise, which was exciting. Mostly thanks to the lovely Janetha, who gave me a shoutout. Thank you Janetha and hello to all of her friends who decided to stop by. I’m also an avid fitness blog lurker. Don’t let all the fancy getups fool you. I also spend a lot of my time ponytailed and rocking the Adidas. Drop me a line and I’ll come by your place. We can swap gossip over protein shakes.

Kickin’ it pretty casual today. I’m on my days off and I haven’t had two consecutive days off since before Thanksgiving. It feels like vacation! I visited the salon for some hairapy. I catch flack every. single. time. about the old dark box dye that’s growing out but won’t go away. I swear, I’m trying to make things right. This is my third trip for professional color and I’m still in trouble. Isn’t duotone hair penance enough? Oh I’m sorry, let me just jump in my time travel spaceship, go back and put the box down. Oy.

Did lunch and some windowshopping alongside a dear friend. Window shopping can be incredibly painful. I saw at least three things that wanted to come home with me, but I am saving my money for other upcoming adventures.

This is probably all two items I own in cream. It’s such a lovely color but hard to wear for numerous reasons. Since all the rest was casual I decided to overaccessorize. I love me some bangle bracelets. And necklaces. And scarves. Always the scarves.
