Hello, hello!
Is everyone at home tonight, watching new TV shows? I haven’t decided what’s worth getting into this year. Honestly I abandoned all of my mainstays last season because they all went in the tank on me. It was a sad TV season for me, as I gave up on “Desperate Housewives”, “Ugly Betty”, and “The Office.” I even ditched out on “Glee,” although I may revisit it. Maybe it’s just a lack of free time on my part, but I just couldn’t find it in me to care anymore. And I detest reality shows. Every once in a great while I get sucked into one, but for the most part I just don’t get it. “Dancing with the Stars”? Really? Okay maybe I could see the appeal if there were actual stars involved. I do love me some dancing. But Aurdina Patridge? C’mon.
Well, I’ll always have “Mad Men” and “30 Rock.” I think I’ve mentioned that the husband and I are also big Netflix fans. So we are attempting to plow through another season of “Brothers and Sisters” so that we can pick up the last seasons of “Lost” and “House.” When we’re between shows we go on “Dexter” kicks. But none of this reality b.s. Give me scripted drama any day. I don’t even care if it’s completely unrealistic. I’ll take a smoke monster any day over Brisol Palin in sequined spandex.
Not sure what’s up with the odd facial expressions. All my pictures look like this today. Possibly because I am feeling not the greatest and I’m not sure what’s up. Probably just a little under the weather but hopefully it’s nothing. I cannot afford to be sick right now! Time to beef up on my vitamins. I’ve been slacking. That, on top of being on the go constantly and the changing of the seasons. I gotta watch my back.
This dress is thrifted. You’ve actually seen it recently during theme week as part of my yellow day. Only you saw the inside of it. It’s reversible. Props to the original distributor, Old Navy, for that one. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate Old Navy? It’s true. I hate it only slightly less that I used to. Many years ago there was a nasty snowstorm where I live and it took out our local Old Navy. The roof completely collapsed in and it was shut down for a long time while they rebuilt it. Its disrepair thrilled me so completely that I actually ventured out mid-snowstorm to take a picture. I then framed the picture and it sat proudly on my coffee table. I mostly found it humorous, but it also marked one of the very few occasions ever, when winter and I were on the same team.
This dress is a prime example though, of what I don’t like about Old Navy. It’s completely cute in appearance. But terribly terribly cut and ill-fitting. It’s tight on the hips, baggy in the waist and top part liked to sag to one side all day long. I’ve found this to be the case with 99% of all things I’ve purchased at Old Navy and thus I pretty much avoid it. Still, once passed on to Goodwill the adorable print of the dress caught my eye. Treason was committed. And here I am paying the price for it today, every time I moved and felt the dress bunch and sag all at once. Who even knew that was possible?
I really like today’s outfit though. Someone accused me of looking entirely too summery in this, today. But I think she meant it as a compliment, though. I knew it was a little resort-like after I styled the dress but I didn’t really care. I thought the colors were at least autumnal enough. Even if all that’s lacking is a turban. (Not for lack of want, mind you.) I’m still more or less on vacation. Maybe I want to parade around in gold jewelry and flowy garments. Okay? In truth, I tried a number of heavier accessories and cover-ups. In the end, this just looked the prettiest.

I think you look adorably summer-y. If it’s still warm enough go for it. There will be a lot of winter to come. I personally have a love/hate relationship with Old Navy. They do basics quite well and have the jeans that I love (then again, I’m really cheap) but anytime they do something a bit more trendy it seems to go ary.

I adore this dress! Okay I really like the print of it and that looks awesome on you, especially with the gorgeous white cardi layered over top, but if it fits that badly to make you so uncomfortable, then I don’t like it either. That’s sad! It’s so pretty!
Hope you start feeling better soon and Don’t Get Sick!

sadly, i have more old navy clothes than i’d like to admit….BUT, they’re slowly making their way out of my wardrobe for prettier, better fitting clothes. i think if i had to describe the store in one word, it would be: meh…..
as for the tv shows, i highly recommend “modern family”. also, the b/f and i are working on the sci-fi show “torchwood”, which is a spin-off of “dr. who”……that is, if you and your husband are in to those kinds of shows.

Oh I love that dress! The colors and print are just fantastic, and the cardigan has such a great drape to it. Love this whole look!

I too, love this dress. The print is just wonderful. Sorry that the fit is not so wonderful. I’m not a big Old Navy fan either. I will go in once in a while thinking that their jeans will fit better and I leave an hour later frustrated because they don’t fit any better than last time!
Fall shows? Well, I do love me some Dancing With the Stars -sorry! I realize that most of these people aren’t stars, but I actually don’t watch it because of that. I love the drama and also the dancing. Modern Family and The Middle are just funny. The Middle reminds me of the way I was raised and Modern Family is completely opposite that. I’m also an addict of Grey’s Anatomy. There are so many new ones this fall it’s impossible to know what to choose and if it will be any good.
Don’t get sick! Just keep telling yourself that – it might work.

I wholeheartedly agree with your description of how Old Navy clothes fit. Somehow, though, I still fall victim to their cute prints and styles and good prices. Sigh. Maybe I will learn someday. OR maybe the roof will fall in…

Ah, I remember that snowstorm. Didn’t know what an Old Navy was until they re-opened. Then my world was destroyed.

I thought I was the only one who doesn’t care for dresses feeling like they were cut on the bias of the fabric and then sewn in weird. It makes me want to tug on it all day.
The new season of House started last night. They set up some new story lines that may be interesting. We also watch Castle on Mondays. Tried to watch The Event. It looks corny.
Lets see…feeling like you might be getting sick…lots of fluids, viatimins, more rest, chicken soup…….
Love Ya

I think a super summery look is the perfect way to end summer, isn’t it the last day? Or is it tomorrow? I have two calendars and they have different days for the first day of fall and I’d rather believe the one telling me it’s Thursday.
So far I’ve been pleased with my fall show reruns, Chuck and Castle were both funny and clever, and I’m looking forward to Glee tonight.
I’m still netflixing how I met your mother in hopes of catching up.
Dexter used to be awesome and now I hate it. Damn writers.

That dress is lovely! I love how well it straddles fall and summer – perfect for the transition season.

I just LOVE this outfit! It’s the perfect way to bid adieu to summer. And now it’s time for boots and sweaters! Hooray! Well, once the cool morning weather stays cool all day. Darn CO weather changes.

I don’t know that you’ll see this comment, two or three months after the post. But I am struck by how similar my husband and I’s TV show tastes are to yours. Pretty much we’ve done the same with Glee, Ugly Betty, and The Office. Also, we’re with you on reality TV. Also with you on Mad Men and 30 Rock.
So, since that is just a stack of coincidences, I will recommend what we really really loved renting and watching all of recently. Yes, all seven seasons: Entourage.
I bet you’ll like it. It’s weirdly good, and I say weird because generally I can’t abide by even the slightest hint of misogynist guy group BS. But! This show has truly redeeming qualities. And it’s straight up fun.

Emily! LOVE Entourage. I am anxiously awaiting the next season. Sad day that they take so long to put them out, since I don’t have Showtime.
